Hey, y'all ๐

Hi, I'm Desirae, a freelance fiction editor since 2017, and a writer since always ๐. I'm a southern gal, born and raised in Sweet Home Alabama, and I want all of your spooky stories, especially if they have kissing in them!
My goal as an editor is to listen to the writerโs needs, goals, and concerns, and together we can formulate a plan that works for you and your book.
Let me be your cheerleader! Iโm here to encourage you through the writing and editing process and never leave you dispirited. No matter where you are along your writing career or journey, I will meet you there and provide you with tricks, tools, and tips that you can add to your writerly toolbox and use again and again. My feedback is never discouraging.
Book an editor who believes in you and your work, one who will be with you every step of the way through the editing process, guiding and mentoring you on how to shine your manuscript so you can attract the attention of a literary agent, or take your book straight to publication.
And rest assured that you retain full ownership and authorship of your creative intellectual property and complete control over the content in your publication.
Editing tools: I use the Chicago Manual of Style for all copyedits, and Microsoft Word or Google Docs for track changes and in-line commentary. I also love Scrivener and Dabble for plotting and organizing scenes, chapters, and story notes + more.

Emoji Match
if your book can be represented by one of these emojis or any combination thereof, I want it!
Genres I'm a match for: Romance, Horror, Paranormal, Gothic, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Contemporary, and all sub-genres thereof in these categories: Young Adult, Middle Grade, New Adult, and *some* Adult stories. I especially love the spooky stuff (ghosts, goblins, lore, the occult, etc), Southern Gothic, and Southern town settings fraught with creepy/haunting folklore. (The South Carolina boo hag? Swamp hoodoo? Oh yeahhh. *Grabby hands*) I adore voice-driven, character-driven, and books that solitarily thrive off vibes because who cares about the plot anyway, right? ๐คฃ๐คช
Genres I'm not a match for: Westerns, erotica or BDSM, Historical fiction, religious or "preachy" stories, Epic Fantasy, short stories or poetry collections, books for Adults, and Non-Fiction.
